Mogadishu,(insidesomalia.org)-The Somali police department officially said that no sort of money can be taken from the public transportation, apart from the concern department.
The spokesman of the Somali police department Colonel Hassan Barise told the press that it is very illegitimate for the public service vehicles to pay extorts money to the individuals who are dressed in the Somali police uniform at every single corner of the city.
The body that is legitimate and is authorized to collect money from the PSV is merely the transportation association department of Banadir region.
The police spokesman Mr. Barise also urged that the drivers should no extend hand to the policemen at the angles of the capital city, and he added that if incase they are compelled to pay they should with immediate effect report to nearest police station with the vicinity.
In most parts of the town your eyes will catch men dressed in the Somali police uniform leaning on their AK47 assault rifles, and majestically demanding money from the PSV drivers, who themselves are facing skyrocketing fuel price.
These soldiers sometimes even rob the passengers after they are given their demands.
To mention some of the points where this extort money is collected include; Sinay intersection, Jardinka intersection, Hotel Juba, Anzeloti, Elgab, KM4 and several other points.
These places mentioned are all in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
